In the year A. Buhler turns 70, it proves that even traditional companies should always be in search of improvements and innovation. The tannery from Ivoti/RS has just joined the Brazilian Leather Sustainability Certification (CSCB). An unprecedented initiative in the world, CSCB is stands out for considering the three pillars of sustainability – which, up to now, hadn’t been put together in one single certification: economy, social responsibility, and the environment.

By joining CSCB, program created by the Centre of the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and launched by INMETRO (the National Institute of Metrology), leather companies prove that they carry a balanced production. Also, with the certification, buyers from the footwear, handbags, accessories, artifacts, furniture and automotive industries can be sure about the origin of leather used in their products.

A. Buhler’s decision to join the list of committed tanneries is based on its intention to continuously work for improvements. After all, the company already values and follows a series of eco-friendly practices. With CSCB, however, it aims at incrementing its positioning of a sustainable producer within other spheres.
