The world’s most important leather event, APLF (Asia Pacific Leather Fair) welcomes this year the greatest Brazilian leather and design project. Design na Pele‘Escritas’ (‘Writings’), an initiative that aims at bringing celebrated designers closer to tanneries from several regions of Brazil in order to create unique leather articles, will be presented in the exhibition between March 30th and April 1st in Hong Kong.

Coordinated by CICB (the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry) in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), Design na Pele‘Escritas’ (‘Writings’) has been met with great public and critical acclaim worldwide. Guided by a bold objective – of creating, recreating and turning leather into a unique article –, the project challenges professionals to make the most of their creativity and explore every single possibility in order to bring innovation.

‘Escritas’ is the project’s second edition. Initiated in 2013 Design na Pele now gathers 12 tanneries, each one of them bringing their own perception to a central theme: writings. The result is impressive. Leather is no longer just leather, it takes an entire country with it. Design na Pele ‘Escritas’ great première happened in Milan, during the much celebrated design exhibitionBrazil S/A. Articles developed for the project were showcased from April to May at Università Degli Studi Di Milano. Design na Pele caught the eyes of major fashion and design professionals from all over the world, even getting special attention from contemporary design icon Philippe Starck. After its première in Italy, Design na Pele was also taken to other major international leather events. At APLF, Design na Pele ‘Escritas’ will be exhibited at pavilion 1B.
