Material Connexion: Brazilian leather joins celebrated components collection in the US

During the next few months, leather produced in Brazil will be part in one of the most celebrated collections for the fashion and architecture sectors in the US: Material Connexion, in New York. The introduction of Brazilian hides to the “library” took recently with a special reception to 200 guests and the launching of a Brazilian panel at Material Connexion’s most valued space: Spotlight.

The initiative has the support from Brazilian Leather, project dedicated to the promotion of leather exports and coordinated by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). The Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Manufactured Goods (Assintecal) also supports it.

Six Brazilian tanneries now have their articles in the Material Connexion permanent collection, as well as in its online catalog – exclusively destined to subscribers and mostly made of professionals connected to the footwear, accessories, clothing and furniture design industries. As part of the initiative, tanneries will also see their creations travel to seven itinerant exhibitions around the US.
