It may seem like an exercise of guess work, but it’s pure research: Preview do Couro (Leather Preview) anticipates what will sure dictate fashion in the Winter 2018 season, gathering 19 hides specially developed with an eye on future trends. Preview do Couro will be presented first-hand at Inspiramais – Design and Innovation Exhibition, between January 16th and 17th. The event takes place in São Paulo, at Pro Magno Event Centre (230 Samaritá Street, Casa Verde, SP). Inspiramais is promoted by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), Assintecal (the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Manufactured Goods), Footwear Components by Brasil and Brazilian Leather, project focused on promoting leather exports and coordinated by CICB in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
Preview do Couro takes to Inspiramais a wide variety of skins: visitors will be able to see unique applications on suede, vacuum, fish, snake and goat skin, amongst others. The creative process had the consultancy from designers Walter Rodrigues, Ramon Soares and Marnei Carminatti, who were directly involved in the research and development stages next to the tanneries involved. According to Ramon, this time Preview do Couro is guided by the word “lightness” – a central value in the new society. “Articles developed emphasize lightness in their structure and finishing processes. The development stages brought textures, patterns, shapes and volumes that came to life based on the theme ‘air’”, he explains. Among the elements that make up this work, one can see bubbles, circles, dots, circular patterns, embossed metallic effects, as well as spherical and rounded volumes.
After its premiere in São Paulo, Preview do Couro will travel to world’s most important leather trade fairs next to the Brazilian Leather project.
