Inspiramais Digital: sustainability and support for fishing regions through Nova Kaeru's leathers

 From fishing to the final product, the entire process of transforming pirarucu fish skin into a luxury piece is sustainable. Starting at the tanning and finishing processes up to the natural aniline dyeing, a mixture of biodegradable acrylic resins, polymers, and synthetic and vegetable tannins is used. The result is vivid, vibrant, and bright colors with an extremely natural feel. Thus, in addition to leather durability and color vividness, a product made with pirarucu skin, when discarded, biodegrades in nature in less than 120 days.

Pirarucu leather can be used in shoes, bags, clothing, and even furniture. It is a genuinely Brazilian product that values and supports the economy of the fishing regions and comes alive with the work of Nova Kaeru. Learn more at:

Inspiramais is organized by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Manufactured Goods (Assintecal), the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (Abit), the Brazilian Association of Furniture Industry (Abimóvel), Tex Brasil, By Brasil Components and Chemicals, and the Brazilian Leather project, a partnership between the CICB and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) to stimulate leather exports.

About Brazilian Leather – The Brazilian Leather project is a sectoral project aimed at the internationalization of Brazilian leather. It is conducted by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
