Brazil was represented by a number of tanneries at the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) - in Shanghai last week. Through the Brazilian Leather Project, an initiative developed by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) with Apex-Brazil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), 21 Brazilian companies took part in the premier event for international companies related to the leather sector in China.

Brazil has been increasing its participation at the show: comparing to the 2012 edition, five new companies took part in the 2013 event. The growth is a reflection of the recent increase in effort in export promotion being developed by CICB and Apex-Brazil. In the first half of this year Brazilian leather exports reached a surplus of US$1.18 billion.

Leather Preview project

The Leather Preview Project was one of the highlights from the Brazilian pavilion at ACLE 2013. Leather from hides and skins specially developed for the Spring 2015 fashion trend predictions were presented to designers, buyers and entrepreneurs during the three-day show which took place September 4-6.
