BRAZILIAN LEATHER EXPORTS SHOW INCREASE IN APRIL

Brazil has shown an increase in leather and skins exports last April. 15.946 million square meters of leather were sold to foreign markets during the period, which means a growth of 2,3% in comparison to hides traded in April 2015 (15.589 million). The analysis was carried out by the Department of Commercial Intelligence at CICB (the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry) following a report from the Department of Foreign Trade from the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC).

Considering the first quarter of 2016, the area of hides traded also shows an increase: 8,7% in comparison to the first four months of 2015. In BRL, the value of exports from January to April this year has reached BRL 2.663 billion – or a 7,1% growth if compared to the same month last year (BRL 2.487 billion).
