August sees fall in leather and skins exports

Exports of Brazilian leather and skins have reached US$ 169,860 million in August. The value represents a reduction of 36,3% in relation to the same month last year, when exports reached US$ 266,641 million. In comparison to July there was also a reduction of 7,8%, or US$ 184,167 million.

This is the lowest figure registered since January 2013, when leather shipped overseas reached US$ 164,9 million.

As for the amount of hides, considering only the cattle hides, in August it was shipped 2.666 million pieces, higher 13.8% compared to July, when total was 2.343 million.

In the first eight months of 2015 the total value of Brazilian leather exports has is 19,4% lower in relation to the same period in 2014. From January to August, a total of US$ 1.595,7 billion in leather and skins was sold to foreign markets.
