Vietnam and the United States are the next stops at fairs for Brazil's leathers

Ten Brazilian tanneries will be taking part in two major global fairs very soon: Ho Chi Minh will have four companies exhibiting at Shoes and Leather Vietnam; and in New York six tanneries will be featured at Lineapelle. In the United States, the fair will take place following the World Leather Congress and will also have the participation of the Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability (CSCB) in a debate centered around certifications. These activities are supported by Brazilian Leather — a project to encourage Brazil's leather sector growth in foreign markets, developed by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).

Vietnam will be the first destination, from July 10th to the 12th. Shoes and Leather (this year in its 21st edition) is a growing trade fair, keeping pace with its host country's economy: in 2018 alone, Vietnam had US$18 billion in shoe and bag exports making it the world's second largest exporter of these products, behind only China. 750 exhibitors will receive an expected audience of 15 thousand people in search of leathers, machines, and other materials for the fashion industry.

Later on attention will shift to New York where the World Leather Congress will take place on the 16th and Lineapelle the 17th and 18th, both at the Metropolitan Pavilion. With the theme 'Leather in Everyday Life', the congress is focused on the new generation of fashion designers and consumers addressing leather attributes, sustainability, perspectives, and positive aspects of leather's use in a wide range of products. Lineapelle, focused on the commercialization of materials for the development of winter collections, brings something new in this edition: a debate on platforms for certification in the leather sector and the principle tools available worldwide, among them the Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability (CSCB). The debate will be on the last day of the fair (the 18th) from 2-3:30pm, initially with individual presentations of the certifications themselves and then the debate. In addition to the CSCB, LWG (United Kingdom), ICEC (Italy) and VDL (Germany) are also confirmed.
