The Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability will participate in one of the footwear industy's most anticipated events worldwide. The 20th International Technical Footwear Congress will take place in Porto, Portugal, this year and will include a presentation by the CSCSb's coordinator Álvaro Flores. Organized by the International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians (UITIC), the congress will run from May 16th to the 18th and expects to host over 500 participants from 30 countries.

A presentation from the CSCB was sent in to the congress' scientific comission for analysis in December. "The proposal of our certification converge with one of the debate session's themes, dealing with sustainability, transparency in the supply chain, and regulatory trends that impact the industry," highlights Álvaro. For him, the exclusive space that's reserved for sustainability at the congress shows the importance and the rising demanded for this theme in the productive chain.

The event will kick off with a series of technical visits to footwear industries, presenting participants some of the attributes, systems, and differentials that have helped Portuguese footwear stand out in the last few years. More information at www.porto2018.uitic.org.
