The most innovative ideas, the knowledge, and the positive examples regarding sustainability for the leather industry will be soon presented in the CSCB Sustainability Forum. The event takes place on Thursday August 11th, in Novo Hamburgo (RS, Brazil), at Feevale University. The CSCB Sustainability Forum is promoted by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB). JBS Couros is the event’s Gold sponsor. Silver sponsor: Stahl. Support: ABQTIC.

This year, the Forum’s central theme is Circular Economy – production model based on capital reconstruction, be it financial, human, social or natural. The event – well-regarded as a starting point for important discussions within the sector – will feature lectures presenting trends in the area in fronts such as technology, creativity and production processes.

“The leather industry has all the potential to become a reference in Brazil in terms of circular economy, in a time where the country is looking for a more efficient and restoring production”, says executive president of CICB José Fernando Bello.

The CSCB Sustainability Forum was sold out in all its previous editions. In 2016, the event aims at helping Brazil to permanently figure as a reference centre for sustainability within the international leather industry. Its name dialogues with the Brazilian Leather Sustainability Certification (CSCB), a milestone in the global sector – since it recognizes tanneries through the assessment of practices in tune with the three pillars of sustainability: economy, social responsibility, and the environment. CSCB is based on norms by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) and carried out through audits from certifying bodies accredited by Inmetro, the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology.
