The 2019 international calendar of leather fairs begins soon for Brazil , with four events taking place on three continents. In the US, Brazil will be present at Lineapelle New York; in Asia there will be Brazilian stands at the India International Leather Fair (IILF); and, in Europe, Brazil will be featured at Première Vision Paris and Lineapelle Milan/Simac Tanning Tech. Participation in these events is supported by the Brazilian Leather project, an initiative of the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) to encourage the participation of Brazilian leathers in international markets.
Commercial networking, image promotion, and market analysis are on the agenda for Brazilian tanneries at these events. At each one, the Brazilian Leather project will take actions to increase Brazil's presence with current customers and within possible new markets. Leticia Luft, the project's manager, explains that the strategy of presenting leathers from various tanneries at Brazilian Leather institutional stands has helped to multiply contacts and increase the visibility of Brazil's creative and quality potential in the tannery sector. This will be the strategy carried out at the Chennai (in India), Paris, and Milan fairs.
International fairs and events will continue on in the first semester with Hong Kong and then Cologne and Dresden, in Germany. It will be an intense period of activities for Brazil's leathers, but adequate when considering the size it represents in the international market: alone, Brazil produces over 40 million hides annually and exports about 80% of them. Brazil is a global reference in the sector, and its presence is always much anticipated in the main commercial and informative leather events around the world.
