Innovative ideas, high-level discussions and great public participation were some the trademarks of the 3rd CICB Sustainability Forum, which took place on August 21st in Novo Hamburgo (RS), Brazil, at Fenac Exhibition Centre. The event gathered hundreds of tanning industry professionals, press and authorities for an entire day dedicated to the responsible knowledge applied to the industry.

The theme for this year’s CICB Forum was Debating the Present in Order to Build the Future, which presented an agenda perfectly in tune with daily routines and challenges of Brazilian tanneries. Questions coming from the audience brought up relevant issues within the global market, such as access to raw material, environmental management, leadership and obstacles connected to legislation. Carlos Obregon (JBS Couros), Cezar Müller (A.P.Müller), David Fernandes (Curtume Coming), Brigitte Wegner (Basf), Bill Amberg (designer inglês) and Guy Morgan (Sustainable Luxury Working Group) were responsible for clarifying these topics and adding positive insights to the debate, which also had a rich contribution from Master of Science in Foresight, Rosa Alegria.

An exhibition of sustainable products and services were also presented during the CICB Forum, which saw the official launch of the Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability (CSCB).

The 3rd CICB Sustainability Forum was promoted by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB). Co-organizer: ABQTIC. Master Sponsoring: JBS Couros: Gold Sponsoring: Stahl, Fenac and Basf. Support: Apex-Brasil, Minerva Leather, AICSul and IBTeC.
